Stanford Dish

This "Dish" is really a big radio telescope with diameter of 150 feet.

Trail in the surrounding landmark is popular for walking and jogging.

Visitors must not get out of paved trail because this also a habitat conservation area.

In the past this telescope was used to communicate with satellites and spacecrafts. Today it is mostly used for academic and research purposes.

On clear days views from hills extend to San Francisco and San Jose.

This place reminds me of Almaty Botany garden which also lies closely to the university campus.

There are other smaller dishes too.

Thank you for visiting!
